A new shopping experience where users can pick a shoe on an iPad, and an automated drone goes to grab the shoes for you.

Promotion event for the incredibly light “Crocs Norlin” town snickers under the concept “experience the lightweight with surprise”. We opened the “World’s first flying shoe store”: an automatic flying drone without a pilot that delivers snickers after taking it out of a huge display stand. In this event which development lasted around half a year, you could really try and buy the snickers. The body of the drone, the electromagnet catching the snickers, the program and system for the automatic drone, the order system using iPad were all exclusively developed by BIRDMAN. We focused on developing the drone so it would not oversize the shoes. Also, the huge shoes display stand (5mx10mx6m) was a BIRDMAN design. 1 month before the public opening, we displayed the event installation in a hangar and showed it to the press so the project could get press coverage. As of today, the “Flying shoe shop” was featured in 45 different countries and was aired on the most important Japanese television channels. More than 500 articles in newspaper, magazines, on Internet were published, the “flying shoe store” was known all over Japan.
We achieved to get 120.000.000 media impressions without any advertisement budget. A lot of people enjoyed visiting the “flying shoe store” and “experienced the lightweight with surprise”.
